Heres wat I was told years ago. I was driving a Cabover truck with a 180 inch wheelbase at the time and it beat me to death, the front wheels would leave the ground . They engineer from Freightliner said, "Higways were built during Eisenhower Admin with 242 inch concrete slabs and a joint between each one to prevent breakage from frost heaving. If you had a truck over 240 inch wheel base it would be balanced because the front wheels would be past the joint before the rear ones hit it thus keeping it from bucking like a mad mule.We went out and bought 300 inch wheel base trucks and they rode smooth as airide. After the advent of airride on most trucks we went to 265 inch and airride on the traier also. Very smooth. I actually had log books and paperwork in envelopes fly off the dash in AZ and NM in the 70s.
