- ThetolliesExplorerWe purchased a 2006 Itaska new, and it had the protective film
on the front of the bus to help protect from bugs & etc.
The film is now cracking and looks like a screen, we cannot find
any information about removing this material. Have talked to detailers, and seems this can get real expensive. Please help. - doxiemom11Explorer IIWe have met someone else with that 3M stuff on it and he has tried many things. They are all very labor intensive. I did just read about a company in FL that will remove it, but don't have the name and they didn't mention the cost. If I run across the name, I'll come back and post unless someone else has the information.
- SCVJeffExplorerOurs has the same film and it's getting there.. if/ when I remove it I'll likely be using a heat gun like others have done in the past. Even if I have to have it repainted, that's several hours of removal labor saved
- smlrangerExplorerPark the coach so the sun heats the front. Get some plastic razor blades, some mineral spirits and some laquer thinner. Using the blades, get an edge lifted then slowly pull at a slight angle. It may come off in small pieces. Soak the adhesive that will be left with mineral spirits, scrape the goo, repeat. Finish cleaning up with the laquer thinner. Wax, polish the paint when done.
It may take hours and it will be a lot of work. I removed mine while staying in Myrtle Beach. Worked on it 3 hours each morning over a few days.
Some folks got a steamer and said that worked well. I tried the heat gun but it did not work any better than letting the sun heat the film.
I tried Goof Off and Goo Gone and it did not removed the adhesive as well as the mineral spirits and laquer thinner. - rv2goExplorer III had mine removed by the Winnebago paint contractor (CDI) in Forest City, IA for $150. Dropped off the Journey at 7 am and picked it up at 4 pm.
- BusskipperExplorerWhen looking to find a good "EDGE" to use to remove these types of things I've found that the Old Credit Cards are Great.
Use a Razor knife to cut them and if the plastic gets dull just cut again - Used it to remove decals on a car and not a mark - but it did take time and Patience.
Then try De Solv It
Best of Luck, - IvylogExplorer IIISome come off easier than others...the glue Monaco used is harder to get off than the actual film. I used a heat gun and plastic razor blades with good results. The best thing for the glue ended up being a Citrus Air freshener...Orange Squeeze at Lowes in the home cleaning department.
The 3M disk would be worth a try. - smlrangerExplorer

I would have happily paid $150 or even more to have someone else do it. I got it off but it was a lot of work.
