Bought an adapter today. Goes from 50 amp to 30 amp, it's just a short adapter, no dog bone, it cost about $10. I have an adapter to go from the 30amp to 110 20 amp service. I shouldn't need AC's where I'm headed, and probably will only use the TV and lights, will turn everything else off or switch to propane where I can. Thanks for all the feedback.

If it is not a dog bone (and initially, even it it is a dog bone) I would check it for heat. Sounds like a "hockey puck" style. IMO, placing these connections in a "hockey puck" is cheap but may increase heat inside the adapter. Also as noted above, if this 20amp line has other outlets, unplug or turn off everything you can. If the freezer in the garage is on the line and the compressor starts, you may over load the CB. I still recommend a PI EMS or a Kill-A-Watt.
