1175 led replacement

I had to special order an 1175 bulb for the porch light on the MH. Is there an led replacement that anyone knows about?

  • sorry, just reread your post. It has one base contact but two pegs to hold it in, hope that makes sense.
  • It looks like an 1156 type bulb with the two base posts but is has one filiment
  • 1157 is a standard dual filament auto tail light bulb with a bayonet base. A porch light would use an 1141 if it were a bayonet base. 1156 is a single filament bayonet base identical looking to a 1141 but much higher wattage and should not be used, as it can burn or melt the insulator in the socket. 1156 is more of an intermittent use bulb for backup lights.

Looking thru GE minature lamp listings, there is no 1175.

Does it have dual contacts on the base or one in the center? Is it a bayonet base like an older automotive bulb?

Does the light look like one of these?

If that is what it is, then it uses an 1141 bulb.

I used these LED lights in my fixtures including the porch light.

  • It's a dual pin halogen? Never seen one of those in a porch fixture
  • Believe me it's an 1175. Went to three auto parts stores and they all told me it was an 1157. I have it right in front of me and its 1175. I called an RV dealer in Daytona and they ordered me some.

I'll be looking at led replacements for the future. Thanks. All
  • For a porch light I'd go LED, for interior I would not. Google light spectrum issues from LED and CFL bulbs for some interesting reads. You aren't getting the full spectrum of colors from them. So yeah, outside at night works for me, inside, (at least for me) I'm staying with old school.

It's a G4 base and plenty on EBay for $1. I like the 5050 chips in warm white
  • An 1175 is a halogen 2 pin bulb. You sure it's not an 1157 ?

In that case they are commonly avaliable anywhere as are the LED replacements on Amazon or eBay
