Measure the voltage on the little terminals. If you can tell which lead goes to ground that is even better. You need voltage on one and ground on the other. If you do not have voltage on one and zero volts on the other then your control voltage is not there and probably popped a fuse during install.
So lets assume you have a popped fuse and need to get things going. By knowing which little terminal needs voltage you can just use a light jumper (alligator clip) to connect the little terminal to the large one that has battery voltage. When doing this you will probably jump due to the clunk of the solenoid. Do not be touching the bare ends of the jumper because there is a voltage spike that can surprise you. It will not hurt you except jumping out of the way.
