1500 watts is 1500 watts. All of the energy you are paying for is staying in your living area. Most small elec heaters are 1200 to 1500 watts because people are going to plug them into a regular wall socket that is rated at 15 amps on a 14 gauge wire. This is found by using Ohms law. One of Ohms laws states that Volts (120) x amps (15) equals 1800 (watts). Some circuits are wired with 12 gauge wire and are rated at 20 amps. 120 V x 20 A +2400 watts.
Some companies will advertise their electric heaters as being more energy efficient and add statements like "when you turn off heat to other rooms". If you have 2 - 600 watt heaters running its the same as one 1200 watt heater.
If you have a $30.00 dollar heater running at 1200 watts and a $130.00 heater running at 1200 watts they are both putting the same amount of energy (heat) into the room. One may last longer than the other but now days that is often not true. They are often all junk.
