I am going nuts trying to remove engine cover so I can check the transmission fluid level. Does anyone have any simple ways to do it without it getting stuck between the seats. Please help.
p,s, I am a woman but do all my own work and I am 60.

  • I just slide it back and lean over it to check fluid level. If you need to remove the doghouse, tilt it to vertical position as soon as it clears the dash lip. That will keep the bolt down tabs from interfering with the seats.
  • If you have a tilt steering wheel, put it all the way up. If your seats swivel, turn them so the narrowest part (normally the back) is facing the cover, that should give you enough room to remove the cover.
  • I wish it was that easy everything else is under hood but that and of course plugs and stuff but not transmission stick I might mention it is a chevy engine
  • First thing that came to my mind was ---- isn't there a dipstick under the hood to check the transmission fluid with? Our engine cover would not get stuck between the seats, but we are a wide body model.
