1989 Southwind Step
When does the door step on a 1989 Southwind extend and retract? If the motor is on will it extend? Will retract when you start the motor? Does it snap in and out or soft at the end of the travel?

- You probably have a Kwikee brand step which is now Power gear.
The step should extend when the door switch is in the on position and the door opens. It should retract when the switch is on when the door is closed.
It should not extend with the switch in the off position whether the door is open or not.
The step should retract when the ignition switch is turned to the on position no matter what position the door switch is in.
You should search for a manual on Bing. It could be a model 888 or 25. - Depends on whether you have the original Kwikee controller or not - my original Kwikee operated as enblethen outlined but Kwikee discontinued that model and the new controller opens the door regardless of whether the door switch is on/off (safety issue I suspect).
- The step is the original Kwikee step that came with the rig. Have looked for the manual. Some how I cannot find it. Will try again. It is the one the has a red box controller. Now that it maybe the 888 or 25 model I should be able to find it. Thanks
