1990 Fleetwood Bounder / Ford 460 - No Engine/System Power

I just bought a 1990 1/2 Bounder with Ford 460. I drove it home and everything was fine, I started doing a whole cleanup effort and started removing old wires and switches that were all deadends and not in use. Somewhere along the line I must have bumped something and now it wont start, wont turnover, no dash lights, no headlights, no radio, nothing. While doing this I also recharged the batteries and its seems fine and Im getting power to the starter relay (I guess is what it is on firewall), Then theres about 6 wires all on that same post for constant power. At some point yesterday I may have rebumped something cause for about 5 mins I was getting dash lights and the radio was on, but it still wouldn't turn over at all, my dad said he could here the relay click a couple of times but that was it. This was also right after I unplugged and checked for power to the ignition plug at the bottom of the steering column. I think the previous owner replaced the ignition, the relay, and the starter, so Im gonna ask him if he had a similar issue. Can anyone give me a insight on where to start.

  • They are probably near the entrance door, mine are on the side of the steps and are easy to hit. They will cut off all power to either Chassis or coach. Used to save the batteries when not using the coach. They are a rocker type switch, probably with a little lite on the switch to indicate if on or off.
  • Please see comments and question below, will start try these when I get home:
#1 battery to relay straight run and good, 6+/- wires on same post connections all have power, 2nd small post has another 6+/- wires no power, but 1st to 2nd post completes circuit with light tester, 3rd wire to starter, 4th small post is empty. Will check for fusible links, should they be on constant side or on 2nd post which appears to be a ground to me (unitl relay switchs maybe).
#2 Will try this also but wasn't getting any power on any of the points on the harness (male) side of the plug. So its not even a hold to start issue, its a ON position no power issue.
#3 What, Where, and What might a chassis power switch look like???

Thanks for the help so far.
  • Fords used fuse links and some fuses adjacent to the starter relay on the firewall. Follow main battery cable to relay. On the battery side you may have two or three fuses/links. One of them has gone bad.
