1991 Ford 'dearborn' E-350

Bough this rig last winter in Ca. I know/knew nothing about any kind of motor home. Nothing worked tho I was told it did and my friend an I fixed what we could. Now all systems work or have been replaced and rig runs fine. I bought an external generator for power and the battery power works some but I replaced all inside lights with l.e.d. lights powered by 3 'AA' bateries. Great idea. the 3 way fridge worls fine and I think the hot water heater works on A/C power or propane.

It is winter and I have tried to winterize my water sysytem. I have put in 7 gal of RV anti-freeze to run thru water system but all I get is pink foam. I don't know where or how of If I already have drained hot water tank. I donno where drin plug is of if there even is one. I can't even find the hot water tank

No manuals and I haven't a clue how to make my water system actully pump fluid again ley alone know if the hot water tank has been drianed.

Can any body help me. I would appreciate it. Snow flakes are flying as I write and I don't want to wreck my rig.

Clue me in!! Thanks..........Mike.
  • If you do a search on "Winterizing" you will find infornmation faster than waiting for an answer here.
There is a search tutorial in the "Forum Tech Support" forum, which will help you maximize you search.

It sounds like your hot water heater wasnt by-passed, also you will want to add the antifreeze at the pump, not the fresh water tank. If you dont have a hot water by-pass valve, you will want to add one.
You can purchase a Winterizing Kit which will allow you to add the antifreeze at the pump.

As for the hot water heater, most are accessed from a panel on the exterior. There should be a large plug that needs removed to drain the heater, but make sure you open the pressure relief valve first, or you will get soaked.
  • Mike - Two or three gallons of the pink stuff should be all you need.

Are you in Anchorage? Mobile Trailer Supply can show you how to do it in a half hour. Don't forget to disconnect all of the batteries for the winter.
