1993 Beaver Patriot (Savannah) ??

Hello,
I know this question comes up all the time so, I searched for information. I did find some info but, it wasn’t really relative to this particular year and model.
So, here it goes… based on the owners input, the unit sounds to be in very good condition i.e. maintenance records are available, service has been done in accordance with mfg requirements etc. (I have not seen the documentation to support these claims) It doesn’t have signs of leaks or de-lamination. Again, based on the owner’s input.
Specifics:
• 1993 33’
• Spartan IC chassis
• 250 Cummins
• Allison 6sp
• 80K miles
• Tires dated 2012
• Batteries 6 mo old
• Engine and trans oil changed last fall prior to storage.

Our objective is to take a few weekend trips this year and one three month trip next year. Enjoy it for a couple of years and perhaps move on to a newer unit.
One of my concerns has to do with the overall length relative to the wheelbase… Is this unit susceptible to “porpoising” or other unwanted handling characteristics? The one piece of literature I found indicated the wheelbase is 196”. What are your thoughts regarding this?
I know it is almost old enough to vote but, what are the pros or cons that come to mind relative to this vintage and model unit?
Thanks,
Gary
  • I live in Savannah area. If you would like I can go look at the unit for you and let you know if it is as advertised. Just a friendly gesture to a fellow RV'r
  • We looked at a 93 Charleston 30-footer, but the dealer was asking 2.4x the NADA price and wouldn't negotiate. We ended up with our signature '02 Georgetown for less than that clown wanted for a 93 DP.

That is just a little more than the one we were considering and LOT closer! Not to mention the slide and the additional length. I'll do some research...

    Thanks,

I would go several years newer and longer so you get the RR8R chassis, dual pane windows, a single slide, and a Onan Quite diesel generator. Not sure this one meets all those requirements, but it's got to be fairly close to you. I'd watch this 98 Beaver and this 98 Dynastyto see how much they go for plus they meet the above requirements. Having owned a 98 Beaver I would lean towards the Dynasty because it does NOT have the air over hydraulic brakes.
Trading MHs is expensive so try and buy more than you need ONE TIME, not like I did:S.

There are certainly several of that vintage floating around. Beside, it's not all that old as far as a Beaver's lifetime goes.
