1996 Ford F53 fuel line quick connects, what size ?

Fuel line is 5/16". Mine just has plastic clips that pop off and the lines pull out of the filter ends.
Good luck getting it put together without cutting a line.
The popular in-line pump add on is referred to as the Dirtrod mod. Documented years ago by a member called Dirtrod. I think I have the info saved as a PDF if you want it.

I know on the Mustangs the fuel line is 3/8 and the return line is 5/16. I only mention Mustang because I know that one for sure. I would assume that the trucks also use the same sizes.

connectors are NOT plastic
they are metal
the need a special insert sleeve tool to release them
little round doohickey with a raise 'flange'? that pushes into the fitting to release it

You need the 3/8" fuel line release tool. In kit form it's blue in color.

When I installed an inline pump on our previous '95 F53, I cut the fuel line just to the rear of the filter and partially bubble flared the cut ends for a firm hose seal when clamped. I used high pressure fuel hose of course.

The fuel system is designed by Engineers who actually know what they’re doing. If your fuel pressure is low after you replace the fuel filter with a new one, there is something else wrong.

It could be a bad fuel pump, a clogged pump inlet filter, a crushed fuel line, or a faulty fuel pressure regulator allowing excessive fuel to flow back to the tank.

You should focus on finding the root cause of the problem before you fix it.

a: i have the hose tools, i changed the filter

b: yes root cause is the 'IN TANK' pump

c: yes high pressure inline pump, yes i saw pumps that would do over 50gal an hour aka 244 to 300 liters per hour, some had pressure up to 120#

d: don't want to cut the lines, prefer to fine pump that will connect to ONE line the existing line going from filter output to front
and couple filter output to pump input, or pump out to filter IN
and use one 'connecting hose' between them

thats why i want to know the 'size'

when i get out of this wet from rain dirt and onto solid pavement
i'm going to take a look for space above the tank,
between gas tank and bottom of RV
apparently on some MFG, they have raise the floor enough, that there is about 7 inches of space, and some people have been able to remove the FORD OEM in tank pump and replace it, without dropping the 74gal fuel tank
an option i had Not before considered possible
i don't think there is that much clearance above this tank
but i will check
