I bought a 1999 American Cruiser that sat lightly used for 12 years. I tried everything before purchase and all but analog TV and VCR worked. Price was right and unit had all options. I'm pretty handy and I went thru and fixed all loose, ill fitting and rattling items. The water bypass under the four screws below the rear dinette seat needed a door vs those long wood screws. Ride right air bags were fine and I ran them at 80 psi minimum. I put 4" rear wheel spacers on the rear axle to give the same track F&R. It turned into a nice unit and the mileage with the 360V8 was 13mpg average fully loaded!!!
They had that unit geared just right. Oh, I did have to have the drag link replaced($270 installed and 4 wheel alignment) as the folks parked it on the grass and it evidently wasn't treated properly and rusted badly. The unit was right near 8,000lb and didn't like soft wet grass. Never replaced the analog TV just got a converter and hooked it up. Wife and I had a conventional TT and thought we would like the smaller B. Nope, it was fine for me but the wife unit got that closed in feeling. We sold the Cruiser after 2 years and made $4,000 profit(after all repair costs and the cost of several long camping trips!) and it sold in less than 1/2 day. I used the profit to trade our TT for a new bigger TT. If it had just been me and I didn't have all the other vehicles I have...MC, scooters, 4X4 truck, Beemer, I would still have it. Great bathroom, great generator, great 3 way fridge. Poor passenger seat movement, hated high winds. Oh, warning, side windows are extremely easy to break into and not leave any evidence. I locked the slam latch rear door with the keys inside and it took me 1 minute with a screw driver to get thru the locked sliding side window and out the rear door. I'm not a young man and I'm not skinny. Left no marks and I made a brace to keep other folks out after that experience.
Enjoy the unit I did.
