Mine were dried, brittle and cracked. They were so brittle that fixing one crack wasn't worth it because another crack was soon to develop.

I learned this after fixing several cracks over the years with Shoe Goo. I went to test the repair sucking on the top to see if it would hold vacuum and it cracked in many pieces. The Shoe Goo repair did not fail but the body itself was brittle from 15 years of use. I replaced it with a universal one fro Autozone.
