1999 Ford F-53 V10 will not start after sitting for a year

Hello Everyone
I have a 1999 Damon class A motorhome on a Ford F-53 V10 chassis that will not start. I tested the start solenoid an found it working and also jumped the solenoid the motorhome started. I found no12v on wire feeding the solenoid from the ignition switch so I replaced the ignition switch, battery and checked all fuses. Still will no start, when turn key to start position there is nothing, every other position works correct. Is there another relay or switch in line with the wire?

  • The house batteries have been removed and have new one setting in the garage. When I turn the key to start position I hear one click noise and that's it. The dash lights lite up in ACC position. Do you have to have the house batteries hookup?
  • Does it have a switch to disconnect the chassis battery? Mine will not start unless I turn the switch on. Same goes for generator - has to have the house battery switch turned on.
  • Yes it started up fine about last April. I would start the engine and generator about every two months but due to the death of my son I in Apirl I have not had time for the RV. My wife and I would like to take a short trip in September.
  • Sounds like you need to call a mechanic. Would it start before it sat for a year??
  • What about the starter relay. My went bad on 97 Pace Arrow, but I am not sure about 99. At some point, the starter relay was built into the starter.
  • Yes I tried to start it in neutral but will not start. Where is the neutral switch located?
