20' Holiday Rambler weight

Does anyone have a rough weight, Tongue and overall of a 1973 Holiday Rambler. 20' in length. Thanks for the help.
  • oh..it's a trailer? I thought it was a MH. well, have the current owner pull it down to a certified scale and get 'er weighed. what is the GCWR of your SUV and what does your SUV weigh with a full tank of gas and loaded for travel?
  • Thank you that is good advice, but I'm specifically asking to see if a mid sized SUV will pull it. Thoughts?
  • rk911 gave you good advice. Get it weighed so you know what the actual weight is.

As for contacting Monaco (the present owner of Holiday Rambler) I seriously doubt they have records going back prior to about 2000, even if you gave them the VIN number.

There is a good chance Holiday Rambler bought the chassis from one of the major truck manufacturers, and you could contact that manufacturer (like Ford, Dodge, etc) for some guidance on determining what the capacity might be.

One salvation though, HR built very good, safe rigs back in those days, unlike some manufacturers that built rigs with almost no extra weight or cargo capacity. I bet you've got a thousand pounds or maybe more.
  • forgive me but you don't need a rough weight...you need a precise weight. unload it, empty the tanks and take it to a certified scale and get individual axle weights. then contact HR and see if they can provide you with the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating), the GCWR (gross combination weight rating) and the GAWRs (gross axle weight ratings (each axle will be different). the difference between the actual weights and the weight ratings will be payload...how much stuff (food, fuel, water, LP, clothing, supplies, pets and people) you can add to the MH before it becomes overweight.

    don't guess...know.
