2000 Fleetwood Discovery 37G

Are these of good quality? I'm thinking about a look at one. Anything I should keep an eye out for? Or should I move on?
  • What Blackdiamond said, eyes wide open. If the #53 block scares you, look on the right side (from the flywheel end) for any signs of leakage. If it shows signs of leakage, it can be repaired, in chassis for about $600 by a welding shop.
  • Way too many variables. How was it stored, how used is it? Was it maintained? Generally people are happy with fleetwood coaches though. I see a ton of them at campgrounds.
  • We had a 2000 37V, just bought a 2012 40X. Watch the fuel lift pump output pressure. They will fail and causes the injector pump to fail and that gets real expensive.
  • I have owned 3 Discoverys that were purchased new. I put 50K on the 2000 model in 3 years. It returned great fuel economy but was a little weak pulling a toad going up the mountains. The 03 and 04 had the CAT and were powerhouses in comparison.

  • I don't like to sound like a broken record, but if it has a 5.9 engine make sure it doesn't have the famous #53 engine block. A good Cummins mechanic can check it. If it does, I would run. Other than that they are a decent coach when you compare apples to apples.
  • I have a 2005 Excursion - same as the Discovery with a few upgrades. I'd buy it again if something happened to it. There were quit a few changes between the year you're looking at and I believe the 2004s.

  • Most important part of ANY RV that is 17 years old is condition and maintenance, go look at it, if you like it, buy it. FWIW, some people hate fleetwoods, some hate winnebagos.....you know the drill. I personally had a 2007 discovery and would buy one again, I downsized to a gas unit.
