2000 Fleetwood Southwind exterior cabinet latches

Does anyone know how to remove the exterior basement cabinet latches? I've removed the handle mechanism but can't get the latch parts out of the door. The screws just keep turning. All of the cabinet door latches have difficulty catching the pieces they're supposed to latch to on the side of the motor home so I would like to remove the hardware to make sure it's in good working order and oiled before reassembling it.

Anyone?

    Yes. All the outside storage bay latches are very difficult to close and a few of the lugs have snapped off. I'd like to systematically remove each latch, replace worn or broken parts and reassemble. I'm able to remove the handle part but not the latch parts that are buried inside the door.

    Are you talking about the outside compartment doors on both sides of the coach, as in storage bays
