2003 Minni Winni

So my best friend of 36 years is considering buying his first RV for him and his wife. He's about 70 years old and very healthy, so I'm excited for him. I've owned 5th wheels for as long as I've known him so I don't know much about motor homes. Seems he's found a 2003 minni winni 24' original owner with 40,000 miles for $15,000 It has a V-10 with a banks exuast kit and other after market upgrades professionaly installed. Any advice I can pass on to my friend.
  • Those rv's were pretty sound. All systems were basic and easy to understand. Do a full inspection and especially check for roof leaks and water damage. Many times these repairs would exceed the value of the rig. BTW, most Fleetwoods: Tioga and Jamboree brands. We've owned both- very good in my opinion.
  • We have owned the 2003 Minnie in my signature below since new - 14 years. It now has 107,000 miles on the odometer and is going strong. Largest maintenance cost so far has been two sets of new tires. All other scheduled maintenance and upgrades have been done by me in the driveway (I'm 74 yo now).

As already mentioned, look for water damage.
  • Howdy, I got one of these (24v is the model) Best of all class C's I have owned. (had four over the years.) The corners of the over cab section, below the windows are known to have sealing issues. Specifically the aluminum molding does not do a good job of holding the intersection of the sidwall and under wall together. Suggest you push on it with your finger to see if it is loose. I have repaired my (along with some delamination ) by removing the molding and sealing it with Proflex then putting eternabond over the corner and replacing the molding. PS. The bathroom sink drains into the black tank by design.
  • We have a 2003 Minnie 29" with 55,500 miles. Like the above poster stated, she has had two sets of tires, and regular maintenance. We just replaced the front brakes. Our mechanic says she looks and drives great.

For the economical price of $15,000, your friend could afford to have minor things repaired.

  • Is it a Minnie or a Minnie Winnie there is a difference. Read my reply to the post on the 2003 Itasca Sundancer. Dick
  • Winnabago is one of the better made class c's. As long as there is no evidence of leaks, they should be okay. The price sounds right.
