Let's back up two steps !  Why do you think you need a fuel pump ?  What problem are you trying to solve ?  I have a 21 year old E150 with the original fuel pump.  This is NOT a common failure !
Quick test. Wait until the engine is completely cooled down. Remove the dust cap from the Schrader valve (like on your tires) that is mounted on the fuel rail. Use a small screwdriver and depress the top of the valve (like you are letting air out of a tire). You should get a little squirt. A dribble is better than nothing !
You can also rent a pressure gauge at an auto parts usually for free !
If you have drained the tank, they are not that heavy. Place a 2x4 or better a 2'x2' piece of plywood on a floor jack. Support the tank, remove the straps and slowly lower it. Several wires and hose to disconnect.
