From the posts I've seen over the years, a number of folks have indeed cut an access hole in their coach floor, usually under the bed. With careful measuring and cutting, a flange can be added to the cutout for later re-installation. I did the external inline fuel pump mod on our previous 1995 F53 chassis coach, and that worked well for us. We were on the road at the time, and only losing a couple of hours to get the pump and install it was a big factor in deciding which way to go.
