2004 Revolution with Delaminiation

I'm looking at a MH that seems solid but has delamination on the rear passenger side of the coach. it appears to be a big bubble right at end of sidewall. Has anyone ever repaired these? Or is the coach pretty much a goner? I called Fleetwood and they said it is 50K to replace a sidewall LOL. I'm just wondering if this is something that is repairable or just let the deal go and pass on the coach..? Thanks

Personally if I liked everything about the MH I would buy it if it was substantially lower than the Nada pricing, less than a ft in dia, and near a window that can be removed to inject resin and apply pressure. Do any of these conditions apply?

Agreed. If everything else about the coach is right and the price is adjusted accordingly, (say 15000 to 20,000) then I would be in. What are they asking.

  • Usually a delamination as described is a window leaking. A good fiberglass shop (not an RV service center) can effect repairs but the job is heavy on the labor cost which can be in the $100 an hour range. If the owner fixed the leak if shouldn't get worse but it's still a very big down check against a potential sale. Unless you can get the seller to heavily discount the price, as in $10,000 if not more, walk away.

A lot of the water damage is going to be hidden so if the bubble is 12" across plan on repairing 24" to 36" of area if not more. Water has a way of wicking into everything it touches so the coach could even have floor damage that will need repaired also. A lot of unknowns at this point.
  • Agree with above posts. I was quoted $1,000 a foot to repair and that was ten years ago. Bob
  • There is no easy way to repair damage like that. Sometimes that just happens, but more often than not its caused by water infiltration and can be quite costly to repair.
  • If they are giving you the Revolution, for free, maybe I would consider it.
Otherwise, run away. Don't buy it.

Keep looking, you will find something that fits your budget and doesn't need major repairs.
