2005 Georgie Boy Landau rear slideout will not retract

We bought a 2005 Georgie Boy Landau 2450DS last October and it's been nothing but a headache. It only had 11,477 miles on it, but the previous owner was a real nut job who wired up so many external connections, without shielding or insulating the connectors that things just shorted out. I gutted all that right away and after replacing the front end, fixing the AC and replacing the patched up fuel pump (someone glued the plastic fitting on the return line), which failed on our cross country trip. After we got it fixed, I drove up to Evanston, WY to pick it up. Unfortunately, the rear slide out would not retract. The mechanic jumpered out the ground with chassis ground and the slide out smoothly slid into place. I have since tried the same technique, with limited success.

Does anyone know where the controls are for the slideouts on the Landau? If so, does anyone have a schematic of the wiring harness and know where the likely grounding issue might be located? I am also looking for a replacement manual cranking rod that was not on the vehicle when we bought it.

  • We have a 2006 35' Georgie Boy Landau so familiar with the slide issues. The only problems we've had were related to a bad ground to the "Safety Switch" that you have to first hold down before pushing the In/Out switch. I found the safety switch to be unnecessary and just grounded out the line to that switch so all you need to do is push the In/Out switch.
The controller on my Landau is on the wall behind the kitchen drawers. I found the ground line going to the safety switch and ran a short line to the ground on the battery charger which is on the floor under the sink.
If that does not solve the problem, I'd replace the In/Out switch.
Let us know the outcome !
