- The E450 towing specs are generic, for a cab and chassis, whether it's built as a flatbed truck, a box truck, an ambulance, motorhome, whatever. The caveats are that the GCWR is 20,000 pounds. So if your motorhome weighs 14000 then it can only tow (in theory) 6000. You also have to consider tongue weight- if you're already at 14K you've nothing for tongue weight. You also have to make sure your hitch can handle whatever you're towing.
So, while your motorhome can't tow 10,000 lbs., a flatbed or box truck built on the same chassis with enough hitch could easily tow that much as long as it was lightly loaded. - older_fossilExplorerSome models of a stripped E-450 chassis may be spec'd to tow up to 10,000 lbs. But for motorhomes the GVWR and GCWR specs are much more relevant. For 2006 the GVWR was 14,050 and the V-10 chassis has a GCWR of 18,500 lbs. So if your motorhome fully loaded for travel approaches the full GVWR, the towing capacity is only 4,450 lbs. The hitch rating on the motorhome could further limit the capacity.
