Did a short trip to the casino last night and noticed my engine temp gauge wasn't working properly. The temp was reading a hair above the cold line and once in a while, it would come up a little more. I monitored my coach on the Aladdin system and according to that the engine was staying between 177 and 181. The cooling system was flushed last spring and filled with Rotella ELC so it has been maintained. Do you think my temp gauge is junk? Does the Aladdin use the same water temp sensor as the gauge? Any input would be appreciated.

Before I would go changing the temp gauge etc. I would see if there's a short in your ignition switch or with your levelers. Fix that problem and your temp gauge might work as designed...check for a loose ground....Dennis

I fixed the leveler problem, it was the sensor for the parking brake in the knob. Wondering if anyone knows if there is more than one temp sensor on the engine.

Mine has 2 sensors. One is an electric sensor that feeds the gauge. The other is another electric sensor but it feeds the engine ECM. Your Aladdin system probably gets its info from the ECM, so it is reading from a different sensor than your gauge.

Does anyone know where the sensors are located so I can check connections and test with a multimeter?

Not sure but I would guess the sensor for the gauge would be a single wire sensor, probably with a stud and nut holding the wire on with a ring terminal. The other will be a sensor with a 2 wire plug plugging directly into it. Both should be around thermostat housing or on head. I assume you have an ISB? If so and you can't find them, I can look at mine and see if I can find them.

The problem is definitely the coolant temp sensor for the gauge. Does anyone know where I can get this sensor? It is for a 2006 Monaco knight with the 8.3isc cummins

Yes, I clean my radiator with simple green extreme. It is aluminum safe degreaser.

Your knight will be an isc, and yes there are two sensors, one for the gauge and a second for the ecm, which is what the alladin reads.

Our 08, the temp never ever changes, right around 180 on both systems all the time.

Do you clean the rear radiator? I do mine once a year, spray gunk degreaser in from the back and the engine side, let it sit, then garden hose it from the back of the coach. Not the best method I know, but on a fairly new coach and done regularly, hopefully good enough.
