You are doing the right thing. But the real problem is going to be 'what are you going to do about having an RV?'.
1. Hope the RV is fixed and go one with your camping.
2. If you want to enjoy camping, you might have to bite the bullet and take a current loss and get a unit that you won't be swearing at every day you use it. I realize that is expensive, but do you really want to be upset for a major portion of your life?
Try to get a realistic price that the dealer would give you on your unit and see what kind of loss you would really take.
