2014 ACE 30.1 Issues

We just purchased a 2014 ACE 30.1 and have had numerous issues. The dealer is currently fixing most of the items, but two remain that are sore points.

1. The finish is New Penny, all brown-tones, and the awning they put on it is all BLUE-tones. They told us that they ran off a couple thousand like that before changing to a color scheme that fit. So we're stuck?

2. The front seats are supposed to both turn around to form a conversation area, but on ours only the passenger seat turns completely around. In photos I've seen online of the 2014, both seats turn around (photo link attached), but the dealer and Thor tell us that the driver seat does not. The armrest and steering wheel do not clear, by a couple of inches. It sure seems fishy, making me wonder what year we actually have. Does anyone else have this problem?

I could list another 20 or so items, but for now I'm really curious about the awning and the driver seat rotation, since we're picking it up at the dealer's place tomorrow.

  • If the seat and awing are your only complaints, then consider yourself lucky.
Be certain to do a complete PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) BEFORE you hand over your $ or sign a finance contract. All RV's will have issues but what I have read in here, it seems Thor does have their fair share of issues.

Be sure to cycle the slides in and out several times to make certain they have corrected the issues with some of their slides. Do a search using "Thor" and you can read about these issues first hand.

Granted the complaints are relatively few considering their overall market share, but to be on the safe side, inspect and try everything before taking delivery.
  • Don't believe the dealer, that's the first rule. . So just ignore them. There will be a way to turn that seat it's like a chines puzzle
  • No, the dealer told us the seat would NOT turn completely, and we could not find any way to turn it.
  • I doubt anyone will ever walk up and say your awning doesn't match. It's probably something you'll have to live with.

You'll be surprised, but turning that chair around is often like a Chinese puzzle. You tilt the wheel, fold down the arm rests, tilt the backrest, move to a certain point and tilt the wheel again.....etc. etc. Often the seat has to be all the way forward or all the way back to work.
