The old 362 horsepower used to be generated at 4,750 RPM. Now you get 320 at 4,000 RPMs. It looks as if Ford has reduced the RPMs for some reason (probably emissions or fuel economy). That really blows. This engine doesn't have a redline tachometer either because all shifts are controlled by the computer so I'm not sure if the 4,000 RPM is a hard limit or if you can get more out of it straight from the factory. I'd imagine that lower RPMs will also negatively affect the engine brake.
On the plus side, this engine should be much quieter.
There is a possibility that you could flash the ECM and increase the RPMs and horsepower if you really wanted to. You might want to call 5 star tuning and ask him if this is possible.
