2088-403-144 water pump/kwikee steps

We have a 1994 Winnebago motorhome. We have a couple of problems. Can a person still get replacement parts for a Shurflo 2088-403-144 water pump. It leaks really bad and would like to replace the pump head, as the motor runs well. The second problem is the Kwikee steps. It has the orange control box and I wanted to replace it as again it sounds like the motor is trying to work because I can hear a clicking noise when the steps should be working.
  • Shurflo 2088 pump has been discontinued......parts are still available

BUT instead of getting a new pump head assembly just get a new better pump.

The Shurflo 4008 pump is a direct replacement, has higher flow rating, better pressure and is only $62........LINK

Can't help you on the steps.
  • Are the steps working freely. Lube and assist them to see if that helps. Easy to unhook the linkage under the steps to get them moving. The motor stops when there is resistence, What kind of motor and is it 2 or 3 step? I have a spare Kwikee motor if that turns out to be your trouble, for a 3 step. PM me
  • Kwikee is now owned by "Powergear.com"
Yes, parts are available. I would replace the pump completely as the pump head costs nearly as much as whole pump.
Step could be binding and needs cleaned good on pivot points and then sprayed with good quality lubricant. Chain lube from motorcycles work good. Another thing to check is the ground on the step assembly's connection to the frame of the MH.

I replaced my pump after taking the old one apart several times to get it to seal and to check and clean the rubber diaphragm. While I was waiting for the new one to arrive I decided to try one more time and sealed the seam with silicone adhesive and that stopped the leak and the 18 year old pump works fine. So I would try that first before ordering a new pump if it is leaking at the seam between the motor and pump housing. Your step problem problem sounds like a relay inside the control box that is failing(contacts arcing). After lubing the pivot points and that does not fix the problem I would go the the Kwikee web site and they give simple step by step procedure to isolate the problem to the motor, mag switch or control module. If you go though this procedure and report your findings here we can help you fix the problem.
