The mid 90's Ford motor homes had fuel pump problems. It usually acted up when the temps outside were in the upper 90's and the fuel tank was less than half full. The pumps would get hot and cavitation (bubbles forming inside pump)would start, then vapor lock the fuel line. Ford has an upgraded pump to fix the problem. If you shut off the engine and let things cool down the engine would usually start right back up.
The tank usually needs to be dropped to replace the pump. I have read where others cut a hole in the floor (under the bed) over the fuel pump to remove the fuel pump.
