geez..I fell like I am beating a dead horse every time I mention this, but..the sheer cost of buying some of these units is astronomical.I would love the Born Free Expedition rig..or a couple of the other rigs mentioned, but for most people it is way out of mine, their, your, league. Maybe one should ask..of the folks recommending a model/make...how many actually own one? or are you just spending someone else's cash? I know Jim has his Tiger and Tony/Karen have a 4x4 C, too.
My point was and is...a person can do so much better, $ wise if they either have a C they like or go and buy the one they like..a used one, not new...and have it converted. Even that is a chuck of change, but it's not the price tag of a new 4x4 off a lot. I see too, that most or all of the manufacturers don't post the price tag. That has to tell a person something, eh.
It was suggested a limited slip rear..and I think that that is a great option, except for sand..you need to be able to pull too, not just push and yes, a winch is a good option but you need to be able to anchor it to something before you can reel yourself out. Now that I have 3 years experience with mine, that ability to engage the hubs and transfer case and pull myself up, down, thru stuff...I don't know if I would want to ever go back to a straight rear wheel drive. And you want manual hubs, not auto...
