7156 miles in 25 days.
We left Oak Harbor on the 15th of March, traveling I-5 south to US 2 east, then south again on State 302 to intercept I-90 east, to 82 south and 84 east to Pendleton Or then 395 south to spend the night in a great little state park just north of John Day Or.
Next morning we raise the jacks pull in the slide and we are on our way south on 395 which winds its way up to 7400 feet going south out of John Day, thru the Malheur National forest where it is snowing hard, we carefully make our way the the most beautiful snowy forest scenes until we make Burns Or, where we follow 78 to 95 to Winnemucca Nv. These were very good state highways in great condition. Arriving Winnemucca we take I-80 east to Battle Mountain we proceed south on Nv.305 nice road to Austin Nv. Where we hang a left on US 50 Which takes into the town of Austin where we find the main street a 6% up grade to no less than 6 switch backs to climb over the top of the mountain and on to Eureka Nv. for the night. We knew it was going to freeze over night so I only hooked up the 50 amp cord and turned on the tank pad heaters, next morning we awoke to 23 degrees, grrrrr. It didn't take much time to get under way and on to Ely and turn south again, on NV 6 to 318 to Crystal Springs and 93 to I-15 and Las Vegas 515 to Boulder to 93 to Kingman to intercept 40 east to Williams Az for the Grand Canyon train ride and the rim tour. Great fun ride. day was clear and high 70's. lots and lots of pictures.
After living Williams we back tract to AshFork and 83 south to pick up I-17 to Phoenix and Phoenix / Chandler to drop an Aircraft engine, and continue to Tucson and the PIMA Aircraft Museum, and the base exchange to stock up the food supplies, then its off the Odessa Tx to deliver more aircraft parts. Tucson to Odessa is a boring inter state drive, After dropping the parts, we proceed down to I-10 and east where we had the heavy winds on our awning side, which unfurled our awning again, in Wells Tx. We were luck to be near a huge truck stop where we got the awning properly stowed again and on to San Antonio to see our daughter for a week.
After a great visit with the kids and G/kids we are off to do the tourist trick on the south coast, ending at the Naval Aircraft museum at Pensacola where we camped at the old sea plane base right on the beach for 3 days. After a proper soaking in the sun we are headed home, by starting at Mobile and touring the Battle ship Alabama and the SS Drum. Leaving Mobile we are hearing warning after warning about a line of Thunder storms that spawned tornados thru out Oklahoma.
Determined to get the heck out of there we head west on I-10 to Gulfport Miss. and head north on 49 working north west we cross the Mississipi at Greenville and put up for the night in Lake Village Arkansas, next day we are at our friends house in Prior OK. for the weekend.
Monday I pick up aircraft engine parts in Tulsa and say good by to our friends Tuesday morning and head towards Durango Co. Two days there while we ride the Durango to Silverton Steam train, then it's a boring ride out to I-15 north thru Salt Lake to Twinfalls Id, over night in a camp ground, and today pushed it home. 84-82-97-2 and I-5.
Fun but busy trip. just over 7100 miles Highest price diesel was 2.50 per gallon in Start up Washington, average was about 2.10- 2.20
Coach ran great, We did a little checking, we now know the difference between 65MPH and 70 MPH is 22 horse power, that is a EGT of 950 degrees and 1100 degrees and a boost pressure of 15 pounds and 26 pounds. over all miles per gallon? we have done the numbers yet.
