Thank you all for the responses. Ive given it all some serious thought and Im not going to buy it, I will be much better off with a travel trailer I can pull with my truck.

I honestly feel a motorhome will indeed become a money pit considering the amount I travel. We have worked in 7 states in the last two years from Oregon to Fl. I also did not realize the extreme expense thats can be associated with towing a motorhome in the event of a breakdown.

Get in it! Pretend you are living in it. Have the DW (or DH) do what they do at different times of day and you do what you do. Can you live like this? Take all the time you need and not the time offered by the salesperson. We were lucky...the sales person went over the various features and then left saying he would give us some time to bond with our coach. No sales person haunting us was what we needed and if you both do the visit, and you both take what you "need" seriously, you should be able to determine if the coach will work for you.

It will be small, but you're going to save a lot of money living in it.

I full time in a 29'5" class C with no slides. It is about being efficient and not having *any* duplicates.

No one can tell you how much space you (and significant other, pet, etc) "need".

I know a couple who crossed an ocean in a Pacific Seacraft Flica (20'). Had a child and "upgraded" to a Dana (24') and continued to sail.

Others who "have to have" a 40' or they are claustrophobic.

No to living in it full time. I assume no slides. It will quickly become too small. I had a '94 Land Yacht 33. The quality was good but less than what you would expect from Airstream. Plenty of power to tow a car. Mileage is going to be in the high single digits.

If you are going to live unit full time get something bigger.

Suspect Chevy P chassis with 454 (non-Vortec).

If you are handy AND interested in doing your own work, could be a great coach. If not, a MONEY PIT.

I had the 200 HP 454 in 32' Bounder and it was adequate. I did not tow though.
I've been dealing with vintage vehicles quite a lot. The coach I still own is 1972 DP in perfect running condition.
I also restore 1965 Airstream trailer for resale. Sure rubber/plastic parts like to deteriorate with age, but nothing that low purchase price would not offset. Than I did not have to worry about corrosion where I live.
Now I can only wonder what kind of DP you can buy for $15k. (Don't kill me, but converted school bus comes to mind)
Frankly I doubt you will like it better than the Airstream.
If you are going to put more than 20,000 miles annually, than fuel consumption will be big factor and DP would definitely win and in such situation I always advise to take a pen, piece of paper and calculate.

Its a fiberglass body and they replaced both AC units about 5 years ago so i dont think it will be an issue.
I think my biggest concern is that its been sitting unused and will be our full time home. Its also a gas 454, so Im concerned that its gonna be a real dog towing a car.
Im a pipefitter and my wife is a travel RN we will be on the road full time.

The diesels ive looked at are around 12-15k so a little more up front but would I be bette off? Ones a 92 allegro with a cummins and 110k, the other is a late 70s MCI bus conversion with a detroit diesel and 120k
