'96 Conquest no power to starter

Thanks to everyone for their help. It turns out that I had the power wire to the power distribution box on the wrong terminal of the starter relay switch. Simple mistakes seam to cause the most trouble. Thanks again

Page 335 on previous post shows a 60 amp fuse for the ignition switch and an ignition relay.
Believe these are in the under the hood fuse block.

Search for "fuse" and it doesn't get into the Fuse Panels (two of them) till around Page 300-something.

Have you checked both fuse blocks for one that says "ign" or ECM?

Replaced ignition switch. Still no power to starter relay or accessory electronics. Thanks for all of the interest and help.

Yeah, with your other symptoms it sure does sound like an ignition switch to me. Its the only place where those circuits come together. That era ignition switch was not exactly fault-free. However if you have tilt-sterring, sometimes the linkage rod develops play and that makes the switch not move all the way (this still requires replacing the switch however because the extra stiction causes the wear on the linkage).

One of my friend's busted the linkage on a '92 van I had. Run still worked, but not START. We ended up adding a push-to-start button as a work around because it was a much quicker fix.

Ignition switch appears to be at the base of the steering column. I would check to see if the connector or switch has been kicked loose.

Sure could be the ignition switch. All my diagram shows is "hot all the time" and a fusible link to it. The stuff that IS working, like Headlights, don't go through the ignition switch, but the Wipers, Radio etc. that are NOT working ARE switched.

We had an older E350/460 and it used that older style starter. It also had only one fuse box and no Control Module. What I don't remember is if the Battery Cables fed the Wiring Harness, right at the Battery. On some vehicles there's a heavy gauge wire coming out of the battery terminal, right next to the main cable. It feeds the rest of the vehicle and the heavy cables handle only the starter. Those that are NOT that way still have branch coming off to feed the main wiring harness, just depends on the vehicle where the pull it from. Might be at the other end of the battery cable. On some GM vehicles it was where the battery cable met the starter-mounted solenoid.

OP - Careful Inspection Required! See if you can figure out where the Chassis itself gets Positive and Ground. Trace from Battery till you know where the power and ground are supposed to flow from/to. If the battery post terminals include a wire in addition to the cable, make sure it's connecting. Then I'd say go after the ignition switch.

Check your Private Messages. The Manual I mentioned also has a section on Ignition Switch.

An Owner's Manual would be really helpful too, as it should call out the fuse locations and what they power. If you don't have your own, maybe somebody with that year or close can look for you. I personally don't know how to do it, but I think Ford offers Owner's Manuals as free downloads.

Bad ignition switch?

I have an aftermarket (Haynes #36094) manual here. It's really weak in the wiring diagram area, but let me look.
When you say your Conquest is 1996, is that also the year of the Ford Chassis? More often than not, a "1996 RV" is on a 1995 Ford. The coach builders seem to buy up model-year-end chassis then get at least halfway through the next year's production before ordering more.
