Well...you're right in one respect: When face to face talking, one can see the expressions and the body language. On the 'net..you cannot.
However....you did ask a question and you did get answers (responses). It all depends how you read them.
It's up to you to separate the wheat from the chaff.

;I'll tell you why jerseyjim, there is alway a smart guy on these forums that has computer muscles that talks to people different than they would in person, thats my problem, got any other questions?

- Deano56ExplorerThe reason I asked in the first place here, is because this is a forum that you ask questions in case someone has done what you are wanting to do, for those who had something smart to say. There is a ad on Craigslist for motors for the 9100 series, it looked like it would fit but after questions from him, its a no. Ordered new torsions springs.
- Johno02ExplorerI like the manual awnings best because I can stake it down when staying for a while, without worrying about it trying to roll itself up. Also, I can move the lower legs out to the ground, so they are out of the way and I don't hit myself in the head as much.

is there a way to motorize my a and e 8500 awning?
Check on this website but I have seem certain manual awnings upgraded to electric by replacing the arms and adding a motor.
ShadePro
They were running a special last year and offered to do mine for $800.00. I didn't get it done. I am not sold on automatic awnings yet. - Dale_TravelingExplorer III don't believe you can without basically replacing all the hardware. Very different tensioning system using a cylinders in the arms as opposed to the springs in the tube. Would be cool if someone had a retrofit kit and I would be in the checkout line behind the OP (cost dependant).
- jerseyjimExplorerI also have an A&E 8500 awning. Manual. If I ever buy another motorhome I would do whatever it takes NOT to get a motorized awning.
I've seen their wind sensor fail....disaster, and they are so high one cannot lower them to, say, put patio lights on them....and read here at the forum the problems people have with them.
Having owned 2 TT and 1 motorhome...all having A&E manual awnings, I must say they are bulletproof. - bluwtr49Explorer II

Tep, I suspect that's the case.
What did A@E say when you asked them???
Wouldn't that be the first step??
