Each individual and family or group will have it's own list of what to take including prescription meds and dietary supplements, personal needs, and such things as glasses, cameras and camera battery chargers, etc. that are not easily bought when away from home. Make a separate list of tools that are kept onboard or assembled from tools in the garage ( best to keep a tool box in the motorhome with spare bulbs, fuses, connectors, duct tape, iron wire, electrical tape, adhesives, sealers and Typical hand tools including miniature screwdrivers, insulated wire and a digital multimeter/voltmeter. I have maintained comprehensive M/S Excell spread sheets to maintain checklists of things to take or buy on the road as needed. Don't take too much clothing or shoes, etc. In warm weather levis and tee shirts and changes of socks and underwear are with maybe one set of dressier clothes is all that is needed.
Have a "fool proof" signal flag etc., to remind you to retract the TV antenna and disconnect everything, and check for any belongings you may be leaving behind. Off topic: Before backing into a camp site, get out and look for anything that you may back into, get help backing into tight spots and have agreed upon hand signals or walkie talkie set. Use GPS to plan safe lane changes to get to off ramps and transitions. Use side mirrors to watch for motorcycles and cars in your right side blind spots when changing lanes. Don't take chances, pass up that off ramp if you can't get to it safely. Don't let local yokels pressure you to go around curves etc faster than posted speed limits. Pull over and let 'em pass only when it is safe to do so.
