My wife and I have done everything from tents to pickup campers, travel trailers, 5th wheel, class C, class A gas and DP. I think the only thing we never owned was a popup tent camper. We have had two 40' DP's (currently own one of those) and we cannot imagine going back.
Our big 5th wheel was very nice when sitting, but traveling with three larger dogs sitting in the back seat of the truck, stopping for lunch in hot climates and not having a cool camper to be in, having to run the slides out just to get to things for a quick stop, etc. made us decide that for us, we liked the DP the best.
As has been said...to each his own. It's great to have so many choices that each of us can find what works best for us.
