Welcome, You are in for a learning curve for sure. Renting a motorhome 1st and visiting a few local places is a good 1st step.
Asking a lot of questions here also and at the campgrounds you visit.
You can drive some of the Diesels and gas rigs at the dealerships you will be visiting on you quest of ownership. Just don't jump at the 1st, look around.
I do not recommend a 5ver as your 1st purchase. They are nice but,different in driving and backing in a campsite etc.
