great thread!
my input in whatever order I can remember...
When we drove our jeep into the campground in arches Nat'l park, I talked up the camphost, and he drove me around the campground. I carry a map of that campground, with 7 sites marked that my 40' DP will fit in.
If you go to reserveamerica.com, 35 feet is all that will fit in that campground.
The first time I was in a DP, the salesman drove me around in a new Allegro RED. He woulda let me drive it, but I was scared and refused.
The following year I bought a 36' 10 year old gasser.
2 years later I bought our 40' DP.
We bought at Lazydays. While some may say they do not offer the best buy, I am extraordinarily happy with the 2 year old (now 6 year old) Monaco that we bought. I would absolutely buy from them again, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone shopping for an RV. Their facility is first rate, their people are the best. And spending the first 2 days in their transfer lot (moving out of our tradein) and the next 3 in their campground was a great way to get to know our new DP, figure out all the systems, and get any punchlist items taken care of.
Go to the shows. Go to any you can reach. Know coming in that most of the rv's will be TT's, then fivers. a few gasers, and one or 2 DP's. THat's just reality today. It's still fun. And we still go, every year.
RV people are great. Campers (without saying.) Dealers and Service people, etc.
The first show we ever went to, we met Bob Tiffen, and sat in one of his allegro's and talked to him for 2 hours!
He's a great guy, and he gave us a great education.
