AC have a built in safety feature, that if they get turned off, they won't come back on for a set number of minutes. If you have a power flicker and your air conditioner goes out, the power in your camper may come back on right away, but the air conditioner will not. After a few minutes, it will come back on again.
If your AC was running when you came in, and you turned the thermostat up (warmer) to turn it off so it would quit running, then immediately turned it back down (cooler), it probably did not come back on right away. They are suppose to do that.
If you did not do this yourself, its possible the AC just quit running right when you came in when it reached it's 60 degree setting on the thermostat. When you tried turning it back to run again, it didn't. It needed to wait a few minutes before cycling back on. This is a safety feature to keep the compressor from getting damaged for this very reason ... power fluxes on and off.
Try again. See if it finally comes back on.
Sounds like your explaining the exact opposite of what happened. The problem is not that it won't come back on, the problem is it won't shut off.
