With mine, ( a roof top unit ) I had to adjust the A/C control switch because it would not kick in the compressor. I pulled off the knob and behind it is a little screw adjustment. Tweeked it a little and A/C was back up and running. When i rotated the knob I could not hear the stat kicking in. Mine is old though. 26 years but still kicking.
