AC power question & problem

We've had our rig sitting in our machine shed for about a month and a half, with the battery mode switched to storage. Went to check the rig, and we plugged in the AC power because I wanted to do some cleaning inside. Also took the battery out of storage mode.

Nothing is happening. Usually we just plug in, the panel takes a bit to get everything figured out, and then we have electrical power. Today we've had different things happening: lights flashing, minimal power to anything needing AC, no lights on panel at all, showing 7 volt and no ac power to anything, showing 5 volt and no ac power to anything. When I finally walked out of there today, it was plugged in to AC and the panel was black. I think our coach batteries are not in the best of shape. But with our 5th wheel, when we plugged into an AC outlet we got electricity to the RV, regardless of the state of the battery. We had electricity when there was no battery in the 5th wheel. Are motorhomes different somehow?

We've checked the cords, we've checked the outlet, I don't see what the trouble is. Do the coach batteries need to be charged before we get any AC to the RV? That doesn't seem to make any sense, though.

Here's a picture of the panel:

BTW, the motorhome is a 2003 Fleetwood Revolution.

  • You have an Intellitec EMS........HERE is service manual for that type.
    Troubleshooting guide on pg 13.

EMS needs a good 12v DC for monitor/indications and for module.

That's what I thought. There must be something else wrong then. The control panel showing battery level and such is also dark, and that's not normal either.

Just another indication you're missing your primary power

  • Yes, should have AC power inside regardless of battery condition.
Btw, I leave mine plugged in all the time even in storage. Keeps the batteries up
  • Thanks, we checked the outlet. I see DH is home now. He mentioned the circuit breaker, I think he'll check that shortly. (DH is busy with work so I was trying to do as much troubleshooting and information gathering before he got home.).

Shouldn't there be electricity to the RV regardless of the state of the battery if we have it plugged into an electrical outlet that is functioning properly? (And we do.)
  • Did you check that you actually have AC power at the outlet you have plugged into?

Did you check the MAIN AC circuit breaker inside your rigs AC Power panel?

Battery after month and half can be low even with disconnect switch....parasitic loads that are wired directly to battery
