ACE Motor home reliability?

We have been looking at Thor's ACE line of motor homes and would like some owners views as to workmanship, reliability (problems and solutions), handling, comfort, well anything good or bad about these rigs. Thanks for any and all inputs.

We have had 2 ACES over the past 3 years. Love them both although the 29.2 is much better. We all love it, no problems to speak of, Handles very well, plenty of power, plenty of storage. I compared to a Vista when buying and frankly I wasn't inpressed. THe Vista is stark in comparison to finish, I felt it lacked an real creature comforts, and was waaaay overpriced for what you got. All I ever hear about Winnie is quality et etc. I didn't see it, at least not comparing it to the newer ACE. I talked to a few vista owners at shows who said they were not impressed with the quality and had some issues too although most think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Any brand has problems. My ACES treat me just fine and no qualms about fit finish and their support is superb.

    Yeaaa Raaaa Raaaa Thor

What's your deal anyway? This forum is inteaded to be helpful and friendly from one camper to another. I have a few Thors and love them and have nothing but satisfaction from the company. What's your issue with that? ANd why would you care looking at your signature? Or do you just enjoy trolling to take snide jabs at people? As far as I can tell that's you only input.

  • I took a loss and traded my 3 month old Thor ACE 27.1 for a Winnebago Vista. I wasn't happy about loosing money but I was happy to see the ACE go. I guess that gives you an idea of what I think of Thor's quality. With the ACE I had multiple water leaks, trim pulling off the body, one pocket door pulled off the rollers and jammed blocking the bedroom, and those are just the high points. Quite a few times the house battery wouldn't take a charge and when it did it frequently it would discharge in a couple of hours. Had the battery tested, no problem, it was in the wiring. The handeling was horible; wandered all over the road, bounced around, rattles, jolts, and this was even after an alignment, CHF (cheap handeling fix), tire pressure adjustment, and four corner weighing and load adjustment. If you are go through an ACE just for fun try sitting on the throne. Unless you're over 6 feet, your toes will barely touch the floor.
  • I just read the Thor forum on the other site. Seem to be a lot of QC problems. Do a search on Thor owners forums on Google and you will find several.
  • Suprised you asked the question if you compare it to your Winnebago I am told the quality is not even close
  • Do a search on here for Thor. I wouldn't touch anything made from Thor at this point and time. Some Thor cheerleaders will be by in awhile :W
