FWIW, I don't consider fiberglass running boards as an upgrade, even though manufacturers and salesmen may call it that.
The aluminum will last forever and never discolor - fiberglass does neither. (Aluminum is stronger, too).
IMHO, another example of buying for "looks" instead of practicality and true value. :(
