Paying to store a bigger rig for three years will be cheaper than trading up when you go full time. Twice the husband on 1/2 the money in 1/10th the space comes to mind.
For some of us, the convenience of keeping the rig parked at the house doesn't have a price tag. A 34' rig is considered a medium size motorhome these days I think right? There was a day when that was pretty big.
As many have said and especially with a 34' size limit, really getting a feel for the floor plans is important. I can't stress enough checking the MH with the slides closed. They are usually designed pretty intelligently for usefulness while on the road but there are some that are made more for parking than driving.
I personally would feel better with a MH a few years old than a brand new one. Diesel vs gas... whatever. The diesels end up being heavier (because they can) so the MPG truly does even out, you just get a nicer riding coach with more luxuries. Fit and finish is somewhat subjective but often you can just feel it as you go through the House. Often, just opening a couple drawers can tell the story.
As another member mentioned, everyone has a dog in the fight so to speak. It may be more beneficial to ask which brands / models to stay away from.
