Well, it took 4 pages of replies before one of "these" clowns showed up.....
This decision is so highly personal AND situational, that nobody can dictate what is right for someone else. We all have our views, based on what's right for US, so that's how I'll respond to the OP.
We spend 7 - 8 months straight in our coach. We wanted comfort, higher end build quality and as much space as possible. A coach with an AquaHot was a must have for us.
Our 2003 Executive fits our wants perfectly. New, it was over $400k, which is simply out of our league. At 8 years old and $150k, we jumped at it. However, research is paramount! You need to understand exactly what you are buying, especially the condition and maintenance history. Our coach came with 61,000mi on it, but the previous owner was a fanatic about maintenance and kept amazingly detailed records.
After inspecting the coach thoroughly, our "hit list" of issues was extremely small (new tires was the biggie) and all were handled to our satisfaction. After 2 years with it, repairs have been minimal (Alternator last spring) and everything continues to work perfectly.
If we were weekend warriors, or spent just a couple of weeks per year camping, would we have bought a 43ft DP? Most likely not! Should the OP do what we did? It depends..... If he chooses another direction, I doubt I'll be calling him "stupid" though....... :R

I would heavily urge you that...
Buyin new is like p**ssing money down the drain
and
buying a gassrer with your budget is just plain stupid.
BUT... I will be driving past Pontiac RV tommorrow. They are a decent dealer (as dealers go) and if you'd like, I'll take a look at that unit for you...
Again, IMHO...
Spending 120k on a gasser is not too bright.
Buying a new motorhome of any type or price range indicates you have more money than brains.
And... a 36' floorplan with a rear bath has to be missing a lot, starting with a workable refrigerator.
