And instead of telling a member of these forums to "just take it and shut up", why don't you just moderate and keep your opinions (that would be deleted if they were posted by anyone but you), to yourself.westernrvparkowner wrote:jplante4 wrote:How is taking your business elsewhere and "voting with your wallet" accomplished when the business specifically doesn't want your business in the first place? I have been "taking my business elsewhere" from the Augusta National Golf Club for years, yet they still won't consider me for membership or even sell me a ticket to the Masters. It's a fact of life that numerous businesses have a business model that does not want me as a customer. The fancy French restaurant won't budge on their dress code to serve me in my cutoff jeans, Chuck E Cheese doesn't have a quiet room where I can enjoy a Pizza in peace, and the MGM Grand isn't going to change the table limits because I want to low roll and make fifty cent bets at the dice table.
This topic comes up every once in a while (search "age restriction" and 15 posts in the past 12 months, "10 year" yields 467 posts).
The typical advise is to go elsewhere. Voting with your wallet is always effective. The one place we stayed where they asked for pix before completing the reservation was unpleasant.
I don't need people or businesses in my life like that.
Age limits and other rules are in place at parks because they are looking for a specific type of customer or have had problems that those limits and policies address. They didn't just dream them up to be a pain in the arse to some people. They make those policies known so you don't drive halfway across the country only to find out you cannot stay there. Isn't knowing a park has a 10 year age rule and may possibly exclude your RV better than arriving at the gate and being told that your rig doesn't meet their minimum standards? That could be the case if the park had the vague "we only accept rigs kept in good condition" criteria.
You obviously have an "oar in the water" in this discussion. Using the Augusta Golf Club as an example of good practice is probably not going to prove your point. Talk about the snobiest of the snobs... Historically, the president of IBM was made a member during the Masters. I remember the controversy when the president of IBM was a woman.
The actions of a private club aside, if you are open to the public, you need to expect the public in all forms. The money that comes from my 1996 sahara is just as green as that which comes from the 2017 Tiffin Phaeton. Just take it and shut up.
