Air Condition Recharge

A/C dash unit putting out cool air but not as cold as it should be. Trying to add coolant but cannot locate low side of system to connect bottle. Located High side only but coolant connection will not fit so I know this is the High Side. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • If it needs any charging it has a leak. Suppose you can charge it every few weeks. Some A/Cs go for years before leaking. If you have a flat tire air only fixes it for a short time. Depending how big the leak is. I would fix the leak first. JMHO
  • my 2001 tradewinds the low side service port is way up high in front of rt. front tire, was hard to get to,but recharged fine. good luck
  • Appreciate the Info but my problem is locating the low side of the cooling unit. I don't think I have a leak because it has been putting out cool air for quite some time and by adding coolant or connecting to the low side the gauge should give me an indication if it is low or not?
Thanks again, I know just enough about A/C's, I could be dangerous!!
  • If it's so low it wont run then it really needs to be evacuated (and the leak fixed) before adding any more refrigerant. Otherwise there are ramifications ($$$$).
