Air Dream Mattress

I want to replace the mattress in my sleeper sofa and the consensus on this forum is to go with Air Dream. The product looks good and the video really makes me want to buy it. The instructions say take the measurements of the old mattress which in my case is 52X72 and Air Dream does make a full size with those dimensions.

Here's my question. The video seems to show that when deflated and the bed is to be folded up and stowed that the top deflated part of the mattress may extend wider than the 52 inch width. I wonder if this part of the mattress could get pinched by the hinges when opening and folding it up.

Has anyone had any experience with a 52 inch Air Dream getting caught up in the bed hardware? I have a 2005 Fleetwood Southwind.

Since this product is non returnable, I am hoping for some feedback on this products compatibility with Fleetwood Motor Homes made in the 2004 to 2007 period or any information at all that might allay my concerns.
  • Just bought the Air Dream mattress and am checking it out in the RV before we head out. Seems like a really good quality product.

I have a question about pumping it up. The instructions say inflate for 25 seconds and then there will be a motor pitch change indicating that it is full. Actually it takes over 30 seconds but my question is can this mattress be inflated beyond "the pitch change" to add more firmness or is there a risk of over inflating and causing it to burst/leak? Anybody have an opinion or experience?
    Thanks
  • I fold mine up with the sheet and top sheet with no problem, but have to take the blankets off and put them away
  • Thanks for the two quick responses. Just curious. With the Air Dream, can the bed be folded up/stored with the bedding (sheets & blanket) on it. Enough clearance? Thanks.
  • YES! The mattress is much more comfortable than the spring and cloth one we took out, but pay special attention when closing your deflated bed back up to couch position that the mattress not slide forward into the scissor portion of the frame. It will definitely pinch/cut the mattress. I bought a second bladder for our mattress and will be more careful when stowing. You will like it just be attentive when storing and should give years of service.
  • I replaced ours with the full size and haven't had any problems folding it up. You just have to take your time and make sure it's totally deflated. It was one of the best investments we made, because it makes the previous uncomfortable bed extremely comfortable. At least that's what I have been told by guests that have slept on it.
