Air line to fill tires

I have a 05 Fleetwood Bounder 34m DP Cat eng. Is there a place to plug in a air chuck to air up tires etc. I was told one is up front under hood but I cant find. Thank you.

  • "fishingbob61"......Just my PERSONAL opinion from owning two DP's. The air hose is nice for filling a bicycle tire, pool inflatables or blowing your shoes off, but is really a poor way to fill large RV tires, especially if they're 22.5's. The tanks just don't hold enough volume/pressure to continuously fill the tires without the engine running.

On most RV's, there is enough pressure to put in a small amount of air and then the coach's compressor has to kick in to refill the tank. This can be a long process, especially with the engine running.

Many guys have created a filler that lets them fill the tire and then dump air in the tank so that the compressor kicks back in. Again...TO ME, this is really a poor and tedious way to fill tires, and is especially a problem if you're in a campground, checking your tires in the morning.

A lot of people just buy a small 110 volt electric compressor that can be run off of your house 110, campground 110 or your generator.

Here is a very popular compressor used by RVers that is small, robust and can easily go to 125psi.

  • if you cant find it it is fairly easy to install one find your dry air tank
the wet tank is the one the air from the air comp or air dryer goes to first
the dry tank feeds from the wet tank find a plug that is does not have a fitting in it preferably one not on the bottom of the tank drain the air system before removing the plug install a female quick coupler, use either Teflon tape or liquid pipe sealer on the fittings if needed for access you can install a hose and route it for convenient access and to avoid chaffing the easiest hose to work with would be plastic air line and should be available at any heavy truck dealer or fleet supply store if you need to get new hose you will need enough male and female couplers for the tank, hose and the air chuck also make sure the hose is long enough to reach the tires furthest from the connection

I have drain vales under the front cap (passenger side) to drain my air tanks. I put a male quick connect fitting on one of those and the female mate on a air line to get air. I do open the valve to drain water (never get any) before putting the air line on.
  • Call Fleetwood and ask them where it's at. On my 2005 Fleetwood Excursion it's slightly to the passenger side of center above the generator. Maybe they did't put an air hose coupler on it?

    I found this: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/bounder_diesel/info

There are other organizations if you do a search you will find other groups for Bounder owners. Post your question there to get answers from fellow Bounder owners.
